Singer, Composer, Multi-Instrumentalist (Indian classical music, Agra
Gharana and Jazz traditions)

Shruti is from Mumbai, India, and moved to Canada to pursue studying Jazz music. She holds double bachelor's degrees in Hindustani classical music from Agra University and Jazz music from Capilano. She toured with an 8 part jazz vocal group named 'NAFS'; a group conceptualized by the Grammy award-winning music director, Dr. A.R. Rahman. Having a strong grip over two rich traditions has helped her find her niche in composing fusion (Indo-Jazz) music. She is currently in the process of recording her first album 'Confluence' with highly respected artists of the Vancouver jazz community. She has been touring and playing music festivals on Vancouver Island and writing new music.

Her musical influences shape her approach to teaching technique, composition, and improvisation. Her priority is to instill a feeling of love and enthusiasm for music whilst developing a strong musical vocabulary.
